Samuel's 14 Rowing Machine Marathons in 14 Days for Teenage Cancer Trust

Lancaster University - Kilimanjaro Trek 2025 · 28 August 2025 to 5 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Thanks very much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Beginning on the 26th May, I will be completing 14 marathons on a rowing machine in 14 days. That means I will be rowing a frankly ridiculous 367 miles (or 591km if you prefer) over the course of my challenge - that's the same distance as rowing the length of the English Channel eighteen times.
This time, 9 months ago, I had never in my life completed further than 5k on a rowing machine. I have put in an immense amount of gruelling training since then, fighting through a cracked rib, at least two broken fingers and a lower back stress fracture in the process.
This will be, by far, the most ridiculous challenge I have subjected myself to in my entire lifetime. I will be catapulting myself headfirst out of my physical and psychological comfort zone and will force myself to push through levels of pain I didn't know existed.
However, the suffering I will be putting myself through over the next couple of weeks doesn't even begin to compare to what cancer patients and their families are forced to face on a daily basis.
This gets us on to why I am so desperate to complete this challenge.
Every day, seven young people (aged between 13 and 24) have to sit down and hear that bombshell message "you have cancer". The Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing the specialised nursing care and support they need to get through their illness both physically and mentally, ensuring they get a fair crack at the rest of their like everyone else.
This is where your donation will be crucial.
Your donation will fund specialist nurses, youth support teams and hospital units within the NHS to provide the very best care and support during treatment and beyond.
I have aimed high with a fundraising target of £5000 because I know how much that money will mean to the charity and thousands of young lives all over the country. I have no idea whether I will be able to raise 5 grand or not but what I do know is that I will give everything i have got to try and make it happen.
I, and the teenagers of the UK who have been brutally dragged into a fight against cancer at an unfairly young age will be very very grateful for your donation.
Many thanks,
Samuel
