Story

On the 5th of September I am taking part in The Big QMC Abseil. I will Abseil 100 feet down the side of one of the UK's tallest hospitals. I am raising money for the Adult Intensive Care Unit at Queens Medical Centre that played an extremely crucial role in saving Flynn’s life.

This cause is incredibly close to home. Flynn is someone I’ve known since we were very young, genuinely a brother to me. We grew up together, went through school together, and although life took us into different friendship groups, our families have always remained close.

On the 2nd of April earlier this year, at just 17 years old, Flynn suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. His heart stopped for 15 minutes, causing a serious brain injury due to lack of oxygen. Thanks to the incredible actions of his mum, the East Midlands Ambulance Service, and the amazing team at QMC, Flynn survived.

Doctors warned that he might never fully recover, but over several months Flynn has shown remarkable determination. From being unable to walk, speak, or even see; he has worked tirelessly through rehabilitation and continues to make incredible progress every day.

The Adult intensive care unit at QMC played a vital role in saving Flynn’s life and supporting his journey. That’s why I’m raising money to help them continue the outstanding work they do for patients and families facing life-changing situations.

Any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated. Thank you for your support ❤️
