James

I am a member of Friends 2 Friends and have been a member for 5 years, I am 29 years old and I have cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and anxiety.

I have been inspired to do this because F2F have helped me so much over the past 5 years, they have supported me in learning new skills, making new friendships and gaining self confidence.

As part of F2F I have gained cooking skills, been out on trips with my friends, learning the ukulele and even being a pantomime dame in our Christmas show.

I now want to be able to give something back to enable others to have the same opportunities that I have.

Laura

I am a support worker at 42 years of age in Voyage Care and have been for over 2 years, I support a member whilst attending Friends 2 Friends at the Burton Group.

Whilst attending the group I have been able to witness the difference that F2F has made on each member.

The opportunities that are given to the members range from day trips, friendships, building life and social skills. Each member is important and are equal, this is celebrated and promoted.

Who are Friends2Friends

Friends 2 Friends is a charity that supports adults with learning disabilities, other vulnerable adults and their carers.

We are a member led group and our aim is to promote independence, increase confidence and support the members to learn the skills needed to be part of the community in which they live.

We feel that to do this, the social side of life is extremely important so we offer a relaxed and informal setting where friendships can be made.

As a member led group, the members arrange what courses, activities and outings they would like to do, with minimal support.
