Kelly’s story

At the age of 38 and 28 weeks pregnant I was told I had stage 3 breast cancer.

I found a lump under my armpit it had spread to my lymph nodes.

At first it was put down to my pregnancy, it was only after a biopsy that it was confirmed as cancer.

At 32 weeks pregnant I had a mastectomy on my left breast. ( I am currently waiting to have my right one removed).

I had my beautiful baby boy 6 weeks later and started my chemo 2 weeks after that.

Chemotherapy is a whole other level of horrific.

After 16 rounds and 15 rounds of radiotherapy hopefully the cancer has gone.

We are currently trying to find a medication to help keep it away. Which is actually turning out to be one of the hardest parts of the whole thing and the effect is has on your body.

I never in a million years thought I would need charities related to cancer, but I am so grateful they exist and to everyone who donates to raise awareness and support people on their journey. Aswell as hopefully one day finding a cure for cancer.

Please check your chest and breasts regularly.
