100K for My Son and a Charity That Means So Much to Our Family

I will be taking on the North Yorkshire Ultra 100K Two-Day Challenge with my best mate and Henry’s Godfather Russ Swan to raise money for North East Lincs Down Syndrome Support Group.

This isn’t just another challenge for me. I’m doing it for my son and for a charity that has been a huge part of our lives for many years.

When our son was born with Down syndrome, we didn’t know what the future would hold. Like many families, we had lots of questions and uncertainties. What we did find was an amazing community through North East Lincs Down Syndrome Support Group. The support, friendship, advice, and opportunities they’ve given our son and our family have been invaluable.

They’ve helped create memories, build confidence, and shown us that we’re never alone. They’ve been there to celebrate achievements, offer support during difficult times, and bring together families who truly understand one another.

I wanted to find a way to give something back, so I’ve signed up for 100 kilometres across the North Yorkshire countryside over two days. It’s going to be one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, both physically and mentally, but it feels like a small way of saying thank you for everything this charity has done for us and so many other families.

When the miles get hard and my legs are telling me to stop, I’ll be thinking about my son and all the children, young people, and families who benefit from the incredible work of this group.
