I am a support woker for a Dates-n-Mates member, Kenny Murphy. Dates-n-Mates is a great support to Kenny. They provide a monthly programme of social events to provide opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to meet new people, make friends and build lasting, meaningful relationships. Kenny has been a member for years and has made lots of new friends and even met a couple of girlfriends along the way! Many people with learning disabilities are socially isolated, marginalised, and excluded from community-based activities simply because of the negative attitudes and misconceptions around their capabilites. Dates-n-Mates recognises that adults with learning disabilities have as much right to building friendships and developing relationships as everyone else. Kenny loves Dates-n-Mates and I know if he could, he'd climb a mountain for them. As he can't, I will climb it for him and help to raise money for this brilliant charity! Thank you!
