London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·

1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents' alcohol problems. They are often frightened and isolated, with no one to turn to for help. Nacoa responds by providing a free, confidential telephone, 1-2-1 chat and email helpline.

Story

In April, I will be wobbling around the London Landmarks Half Marathon to do my part to raise funds for a wonderful charity that means a lot to me.

I started working with Nacoa when I had more free time during lockdown. While I'm not so actively involved now, I’m pleased to support it any way that I can. It’s a small charity that relies heavily on private donations and the work of its amazing volunteers.

Just a small donation from you would mean the world to me. Thank you.

Here’s a bit more info about Nacoa and the works it does.

******

Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) offers support to children growing up in families affected by alcoholism. They recognise that children are inevitably impacted by the struggles of a parent battling addiction.

Nacoa runs a free telephone helpline that a child can call in moments of crisis or to hear a friendly voice. Their volunteer speakers meet with a range of professional caregivers to raise awareness of the impact to children, how to spot signs that all is not well at home and how they might offer practical care and advice to children. NACOA volunteers also regularly contribute to research projects looking at the inpact these experiences have well into adulthood.

In short, they do incredible work and I’m so pleased to support them even in a small way.
