Cancer- Leave our kids alone!

David D is raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity
It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

ORIGINAL OPENING POST APRIL 2024 - As a Family we are delighted to be raising funds again for The Birmingham Children’s Hospital. On Saturday 20th April 2024 we held a fund raising Charity Ball at The Grand Hotel Birmingham and we raised £86,000.

It is some 20 years since we used to hold Annual Balls at our family home to raise money for BCH and so it sort of feels that we are now returning to our fund raising roots having taken a break to raise money for other good causes over the last two decades.

We are fundraising to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Wards at the Hospital and should you not have been able to attend our fund raising events then please do just donate here. Every penny we raise throughout all of our events and donations will go in full to the Hospital.

Many thanks

David, Jan, Sophie & Daniel.

AN UPDATE POST OCTOBER 2024 - Following on from the success of our “Cancer - Leave our kids alone!” Charity Ball at The Grand Hotel Birmingham in 2024 which raised over £86,000 we are now currently organising our next fundraising Ball for the Hospital which will take place on April 12th 2025 at The Grand Hotel Birmingham. In light of this 2025 Ball next year, and having raised and already donated £86,000 to the Hospital in 2024, we have now revised our fundraising target to £180,000 (to reflect the cumulative total that we hope to raise over the two Charity Balls.)

Thanks to the incredible and unstinting support of all of our friends and colleagues we are basically all but sold out for Tickets to this next 2025 Ball and we are currently beavering away making the arrangements so that all of our guests have a fantastic evening!

As can be seen from the fund raising figures shown the vast majority of our fundraising is done on the actual night of each of our Charity Balls and so offline but for those unable to attend but who would like to make a donation this page is the best way to do that and as it has a unique reference so that the Hospital and we as a family know that your donation is linked to our fundraising efforts……so do please be confident in donating and please be as generous as you can and donate away through this just giving page……

Thank you all so much for your continued support. It means everything to us as a family and to those children battling with Cancer.

AN UPDATE POST MARCH 2025.

Just a few weeks to go now until our second sold out fund raising Charity Ball for BCH at The Grand Hotel Birmingham on April 12th. Once again the support from so many has been wonderful. Looking forward to another extraordinary night of fun, love, emotion, laughter…..and some serious fundraising! Can we hit that £100,000 + figure on the night? Fingers crossed for us please ❤️😊

AN UPDATE POST - MAY 2025. On April 12th 2025 we held our second sold out “Cancer Leave Our Kids Alone!” Black Tie Charity Masquerade Ball at The Grand Hotel Birmingham. Thanks again to the overwhelming generosity of our friends we raised a total of £122,826. As a family we are absolutely blown away by the incredible support that we have received again from all involved, as was the Chief Executive of the BCH fund raising team, Mark Brider, who attended the Ball, along with several colleagues.

At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.

Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.
