Cots for Tots is the special care baby charity raising money to save and transform lives at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital Bristol, and Cots for Tots House, free 'home from home' accommodation for families of babies from Bristol, the South West, South Wales and beyond.

Story

Devastatingly the world lost a brilliant young doctor last month. Sophie was not just a dedicated doctor but a wonderful friend. Some of her friends would like to raise some money in her memory, for a cause about which Sophie cared deeply. Her family have chosen Cots for Tots.

As some of you may know, Sophie chose to specialise in paediatrics and had been working at the children’s hospital in Bristol. She always spoke passionately about her work, and helping sick children was very close to her heart.

Sophie knew the positive impact she could make - not just on the care of her patients, but also on the world of medicine. Most recently, she worked with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) to promote diversity and equality among paediatric doctors. A trailblazer, she wanted to hold open the door for other people with disabilities who dreamed of working as doctors. This is a testament to her determination, generosity and belief that anything is possible.

During her last hospital placement, Sophie worked at the St Michael’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, providing the highest level of care to critically ill and premature babies from across the South West. For this reason, we would like to raise funds as a tribute to her memory.

Cots for Tots is a charity that works alongside the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to make the unit the very best it can be - for patients, parents, and staff. Any donations will help the charity to continue its vital work:

- funding state-of-the-art equipment

- supporting families (they run accommodation houses that provide a safe, supportive place for families to stay in while their child is in hospital)

- providing a music therapist for the babies (these sessions help to reduce stress and pain)
