Story
It's the US road trip of a lifetime - and I'd love your support!

From September 7-12 2025 I hope to be cycling 400 gruelling miles from Washington DC to Central Park in New York City to support a fantastic cause, Rugby League Cares.
Although my main job was always in the NHS, I was also a rugby league doctor for well over 20 years which included 10 years at Widnes followed by 10 years at St Helens. I also toured with the 1992 Rugby League Lions to Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand and I was also the England Team doctor for the 2000 World Cup.
As you might imagine, I have had a brilliant time being involved in rugby league with many memories and friends. I heard about the Rugby League Cares cycle ride, and as I retired recently I thought I would give it a go and help support this important and relevant charity.
RL Cares is the sport's official charity and it impacts on people across our communities in so many ways, from providing wellbeing and welfare support to current players, careers guidance to recently retired players and help and advice on brain health, dementia and other conditions to retired players of all ages.
RL Cares also delivers life changing and life-affirming health programmes to young players and their coaches though its partnership with Movember and to the wider public via the Offload programme.
You can help me show appreciation for this great charity by sponsoring me on the ride - all donations, big and small, are welcome.
Thank you!
David.
