Hackney Half Marathon 2024 · 19 May 2024 ·

Dream Renewables tackles issues surrounding energy access in rural Ghanaian communities through delivering education and training programmes. We are raising vital staff costs to build capacity in our small team, so we can achieve even more in 2024.

Story

As you might be aware, I have spent the last four years setting up a small NGO in Ghana called Dream Renewables.

We now have a permanent training centre and a passionate team of engineers and trainers in Ghana. I'm so proud of the work they do and what have been able to achieve together. Me and 9 others are running the Hackney Half Marathon to raise funds to continue to employ two fantastic young staff members in the next financial year.

Dream Renewables designs and delivers educational programmes inspiring young Ghanaians about renewable energy through practical, hands-on learning.

We undertake renewable energy projects benefiting critical community infrastructure in impoverished communities. These include a solar powered IT lab for a rural off grid school, solar powered irrigation systems for small holding farmers and a solar powered refrigeration and lighting for a rural health clinic.

I'm part of a team of 10 people running the Hackney half to raise funds to pay the salaries of Promise and Jenifer, two new staff members, who trained on our programmes in 2022 and 2023.

Note: Dream Renewables' parent charity is Dream Big Ghana Foundation, who provide due diligence, mentoring and support. Funds raised through this page will go through Dream Big Ghana Foundation. But 100% of these funds will be sent directly to Ghana to fund renewable energy education and projects.
