Team DJS Sponsored Walk for The Stroke Association

Marathon Walk · 28 June 2025
Team DJS are walking 26.2 miles around the Yorkshire Wolds in a challenging circular trail that is part of the 44 mile Wold Rangers Way on Saturday 28th June to raise money for The Stroke Association. There is a very personal reason behind choosing this charity for many members of staff, and more recently for our very own Sophie, when on the 4th May 2024, her world changed forever when her 16 month old happy little boy, Robin, suffered a stroke. Just days later whilst in Hull Royal, he had another, much larger stroke, which left him in a critical condition. He was transferred to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, where he was admitted into intensive care and spent two weeks there before being transferred back to Hull Royal.
His journey from there has been unimaginably tough, but his strength and resilience has been incredible. Robin lost the use of his right side, making it impossible for him to sit up again or swallow safely. Watching him re-learn how to do everything has been heart-wrenching for the family, but every small step he’s taken has been a testament to his strength and resilience. He is now on a long road to recovery and will continue to need physical therapy and ongoing medical care to help him regain the abilities he has lost.
The Stroke Association has been an invaluable resource for the family, offering vital support, information, and advocacy. We want to do everything we can to help others going through similar experiences and raise awareness to childhood stroke. But stroke can affect any one, of any age, and the impact it has on the person and their family is life changing. We’ve created this page to raise funds for The Stroke Association so they can continue their work. Every donation will help them to support and care for people and their families affected by stroke. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your support means the world to us.
