Since 2017, I’ve been involved in a charity called Friends of Manipay Hospital.

The charity was set up to restore and renovate a hospital in the war ravaged region of northern Sri Lanka. Green Memorial Hospital was no longer operational and in a state of disrepair.

As many of you know, I lost my daughter Gabriella in 2017. Hence, I’ve been passionate about leaving a legacy in her name and assisting other parents enduring the pain of a sick child. I’ve been cycling for the paediatric department and the rest of the hospital ever since.

This year, we are fundraising, by riding a gruelling 450km from the capital Colombo located on the west coast of the island via Anuradhapura one of the major cultural heritage sites and one of the most evocative places in tropical Asia at all to finish in Manipay in the northern Jaffna province. We are raising funds to complete the Paediatric Unit, Hope Beyond Cancer Unit and restoration of other buildings within the hospital compound.
