Sponsored MUD RUN 24th April

Duncan Howe is raising money for Samson Centre for MS
Are you ready for the ultimate challenge? With a 5K course booked solely for the Samson Centre for MS, you will encounter mud, water, climbing, crawling and challenging obstacles all the way round. It's going to get dirty out there!

Story

I am a volunteer Oxygen operator at the Samson Centre for MS in Guildford. I also help maintain the Oxygen chambers and I and others are constantly firefighting in keeping the chambers running for users to have treatment. The chambers are being used far more than they were originally build for and therefore they are succumbing to wear and tear. To keep the chambers operating we need to have replacement parts made and this costs money as they are unavailable off the shelf. Please help myself and the others on the Mud run to raise funds so we can keep the Oxygen chambers running.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS, and most are in their thirties, forties and fifties, although MS is not uncommon in people in their mid to late twenties.

MS symptoms are different for everyone. Physical symptoms often include loss of balance, stiffness and speech problems, while other symptoms can include fatigue, pain, and problems with mental health and memory. For many people, MS gradually gets worse over time and people find they need more and more support.

There is no cure for MS, but there are lots of different treatments and alternative therapies available which help relieve symptoms. These include exercise, physiotherapy and oxygen therapy, which are all available at the Samson Centre.
