Story

****Update 13/04/2026****

A great run yesterday in a fantastically well supported event.

All the training paid significant dividends and I achieved a time of 1hr 45min 12 secs.

I also managed to get from London to Brighton in time (just!) to see my daughter finsish the Brighton Marathon (her first).

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everybody who donated and supported me!

On 12th April 2026, I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Auditory Verbal UK. This is a step up from my weekly Park Run efforts.

Auditory Verbal UK (AVUK) is a national charity dedicated to helping deaf babies and pre-school children (ages 0-5) to learn, to listen, and speak using a highly effective specialist approach called Auditory Verbal therapy (AVT). AVUK's ambition is to provide this option to all deaf babies and pre-school children in the UK, currently it is only provided to about 8% of that total.

I am currently the Trustee Treasurer for AVUK and as such I am hoping to raise something in the vicinity of £1,000, by putting my tired old 58 year old body through 13.1 miles across London ! My aim is to get to the finish line somewhere near 1 hour and 55 mins.

Really grateful for your support, and whatever you are able to donate financially. It really is a great charity, and a great cause, and what you provide will make a lifelong difference to deaf children in the UK.

Many thanks,

Duncan
