Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2006 I had a benign brain tumour removed. 6 years later the tumour started to regrow. This required an extensive course of radiotherapy treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea. A good outcome was achieved from this.
Roll on 9 years to 14th May 2021. Any normal Friday after work. I had just parked my car on the drive and picked up 4 cans of beer. What happened next changed my life. My left arm just broke from the weight lifting!! After extensive blood tests, body scans and biopsies I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma; a type of bone marrow cancer. There is no current cure for this cancer, but through treatment can be put in remission for a number of years.
I was treated at St Luke’s Cancer wing at the Royal Surrey County Hospital where I was given a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The next stage of treatment was a stem cell transplant at the Royal Marsden Chelsea.
The care I have experienced at St Luke’s Cancer Wing at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, and the Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea from all the Consultants, Doctors Nurses and support staff has been extraordinary.
I am cycling this journey with my son Ben; to pay tribute and thank them from the bottom of my heart to all these health workers who have got me to this point of feeling in a good space.
