There are a couple of reasons for Rob and me doing this ride and I hope you find both inspiring enough to give generously to a good cause.

The reason for contemplating such a ridiculously long and lumpy ride in the first place, is born out of friendship, in memory of our great cycling buddy, Chris Kenyon, aka Doctor Cog. Known and loved by so many folk here in Oxford, Chris is sadly missed, but would be tickled to hear that we are daft enough to finally be doing the epic cycle ride that our group of cycling friends discussed so often. We want to make the 'dream come true' in his honour.

So, if we are foolhardy enough to actually do this ride, we would like to give it added purpose and help raise money for a good cause. Another of our cycling friends, Andy, is a teacher at a local primary school here in Oxford. He is in the process of raising money for a much-needed special educational needs teacher at his school's trust. He is doing this through his passion for bicycles with a series of fund-raising cycling events. We would like our ride to be one small part of the wonderful work that he is doing for the children at his school. Finally, why £2500 as a target figure? You guessed it, that's £1 for every kilometre we will cycle between Oxford and Split in Croatia.
