Story
In memory of Sue Berridge...
Hi, my name is Duncan Woodhead and I am raising much needed funds for St Nicholas Hospice in Bury St Edmunds. On June 15th, I am cycling from Land's End to John o' Groats (LeJog) in memory of my partner's mother Sue, who very sadly passed away from cancer in July 2023.
I am lucky enough to have friends, Doug and Shirley, driving the support vehicle during this two week cycle ride. However, the ride is almost 1000 miles, has lots of hills and we're overnight camping. This all means it remains a huge challenge.
My LeJog cycle ride will be entirely self-funded and all the sponsorship raised from the ride will go directly to St Nicholas Hospice, Bury St Edmunds.
St Nicholas Hospice Care is a charity that provides help, advice and support to people in Bury St Edmunds, wider West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapter of their lives
The care they give is completely free to all patients and their families and they need to raise at least £17,500 a day in order to do this vital work. Most of the hospice's income is raised via donations, fundraising and sponsorship events such as mine. Therefore, the amazing support of you, as well as the communities in Beddington, south London and Stapleford , South Cambridgeshire of which I am a part can really help make a huge difference.
The care the hospice gave to Sue in her last days and the support, care, and compassion the staff provided to Sue's family was second to none.
In addition to donating, please speak to your prospective parliamentary candidates and ask that a future government better supports end of life care. "The moral test of government is how that government treats...those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly [and] those who are in the shadows of life, the sick."
Thank you in advance for your support.
