Story
Hey friends,
Thanks for clicking.
On 26 April, I'll be running the London Marathon. 26.2 miles. Every step is for my mum.
Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with Ménière's disease. Most people haven't heard of it. I hadn't either. At first, I thought it was just a ringing in her ear. Sadly, that was just the start.
Ménière's is a chronic inner ear condition that causes sudden, severe vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a feeling of pressure that never fully goes away. There is no cure. Yet.
For my mum, the impact has been immediate. She's had drop attacks, episodes where the vertigo hits so hard and so fast that she loses consciousness with no warning. She can no longer drive. She can no longer live with the independence she's always had. A woman dedicated to showing up for everyone around her is now navigating a world that spins without permission.
She hasn't complained once. Never wanting to inconvenience anyone else. Never wanting to make a fuss. She'd actually hate this page, so we won't tell her.
If you can spare a few quid, it would mean the world. If you can't, a share would also be appreciated.
All donations go to Ménière's & Vestibular UK, who provide support, community and guidance to people living with vestibular disorders.
I'm not a fast runner. But I will finish this one.
Thank you for showing up for her.
Duray
