Story
Imperial College London has teamed up with Choose a Challenge to take on the monumental task of fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust. This UK-based charity is dedicated to providing crucial support for young people aged 13-24 who are battling cancer. By partnering with the NHS, Teenage Cancer Trust ensures that specialized medical professionals are trained to cater to the unique needs of teenage cancer patients. Additionally, they fund designated areas within medical facilities that are specifically tailored to the needs of young adults, as well as provide access to recreational technologies.
The prevalence of cancer among young people has seen a significant increase in recent years, with a 22% rise in diagnoses since the early 2000s. Despite a 61% decrease in overall deaths since the 1970s, the number of diagnoses continues to climb. Shockingly, it is projected that seven young individuals will receive a cancer diagnosis every day, and this number is expected to rise even further according to NHS England's recent reports.
The impact of cancer is far-reaching, touching the lives of countless individuals directly and indirectly. It's a burden that requires not just medical attention but also social and emotional support from those around us. Teenage Cancer Trust stands as a beacon of hope in this regard, providing vital assistance through community support and small donations from compassionate individuals like you.
Your contribution will make an immense difference as we prepare for our challenging six-day trek up Kilimanjaro - the highest peak in Africa - scheduled for August 30th, 2025.
