Sight Life Challenge 160
Campaign by Sight Life (RCN 214131)
Help Sight Life celebrate our 160th year by taking on a challenge of your choice to raise at least £160 for us. Each completed challenge will allow us to continue making a meaningful difference to blind and partially sighted people in South Wales.

Story

My Story:

South Wales has a beautiful landscape of hills and mountains. Come and join me in walking to help with your mental and physical health.

I will be doing various walks for my mental and physical health.

Including:

Hay Bluff/Lord Hereford's Knob - 23rd August 10am

Sugar Loaf - 27th September 8am

Blorenge Summit - Saturday 9th August 10AM meeting at Llanfoist Crossing Car Park.

Skirrid Fawr Summit - Saturday 25th October

Pen y Fan - "I am Pen y Fan" Sunday 7th September AM-PM

and many other walks in South Wales.

I have just extended the challenge to try and complete "The Glamorgan Trig Bagger Challenge"

Glamorgan has 99 Trig Pillars to tackle. I will try and do as many as I can in 2026.

"Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time"

"The easy path won't lead you to the best views"

"The landscape is glowin', gleamin' in the golden light of day

I ain't holdin' nothin' back now, I ain't standin' in anybody's way."

- Bob Dylan

"Your welcome to come and join me"

How Sight Life makes a difference:

• Research shows that we fear losing our sight more than any other disability.

• The Estimated cost of sight loss each year (includes direct and indirect costs) in the Cardiff area alone is over £126,800,000.

• People with sight loss are 2 or 3 times more likely to be depressed in comparison to sighted people.

• 43% of people with sight loss have significant depressive symptoms.

• The incidence of depression lessened with social inclusion, cultural group involvement and physical activity.

For last 160 years, Sight Life's work has been making a meaningful impact in the lives of local blind and partially sighted people when they need us the most.

We want to keep supporting and evolving the services we offer for the next 160 years but we need your support!

Raising just £160 for Sight Life will allow us to visit a Service User at home to provide essential advice to ensure they can continue to live independently; provide a bespoke session on how to successfully manage living with sight loss and reduce the isolation it imposes; and also run a social group that can become a life-line to our Service Users and gives them a reason to leave home.

The money you raise matters. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
