Story
As part of my Barmitzvah experience I am completing a charity challenge by climbing 2 mountains in the Lake District over 1 weekend. On Friday 4th July I will be climbing up Blencathra, It has a height of 868 meters (2,848 feet) and is the 14th highest peak in the Lake District and 18th in England. After a restful Saturday, on Sunday 6th July I will then be climbing up the iconic peak of Helvellyn which will take approximately 7 hours, and is around 3,111ft.
My chosen charity is Volunteers on Wheels which my Grandpa (Poppa Allan) was a dedicated volunteer for. This small charity distribute food and other supplies to over 30 food banks and up to 20,000 people every week. By raising money I hope that this can help with keeping their vans maintained and fueled so that they can continue their great work. https://www.volunteersonwheels.org.uk/
What makes this even more meaningful is that 4th July would have been my Poppa’s birthday and he was an avid walker who loved walking and climbing in the Lake District.
