Story

In November 2024, I went on holiday to Disney in Florida with Hannah and her family. It was on the 12th day, December 5th, when during the night I suffered a total of 6 Sudden Cardiac Arrests.

It’s a tough pill to swallow since I had no previous indications that this would happen to me, so it was something I just never expected.

I’m forever grateful to Hannah and her family for everything they did for me that morning, it’s a debt I’ll never be able to repay. It’s fair to say, without their quick thinking and understanding of CPR, I wouldn’t be here today and I wouldn’t have seen the love and support from friends and family that I have over the past few months.

I cannot stress enough the importance of learning CPR, it only takes 15 minutes on the BHF website. I was subsequently fitted with an S-ICD (subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator), something I’d never heard about until then. I now know, ICD’s are life saving mechanical devices and they’re vital for preventing sudden cardiac death, so despite feeling far too young to have an one fitted, it’s hard to know where I would be without it, after it saved my life in January.

An organisation that now means more to us than ever has, is CRY.

Every week in the UK, 12 young people will die suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition, CRY works to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death and supports young people (and their families) diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions.

So in June, I will be doing the CRY Heart of London Bridges Walk to raise awareness for such an important charity. Any donation will support this service, and could help save a life.
