Dylis’s Story

I’m joining this great bunch of friends and family who got together to honour Frank’s memory ,who unexpectedly passed away in September 2025 by raising funds for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland. Also for a few others whose CHS stories will be added to this page.

We are taking part in the Kiltwalk some of us are being more adventurous and doing the Mighty Stride bit I have opted for the Big Stroll , 11miles. I haven’t walked this distance in one go since I was a teenager. Having had Frank by my side as both my amazing husband and best friend for over 40years I know he will be cheering us all on saying:

‘ YOU CAN DO THIS ‘

Frank Robertson

Frank Robertson had a bit of a tough time in Dec ‘24 and Jan ‘25 when he was admitted to hospital with clots in his lungs which caused him to suffer arterial fibrillation. He overcame his health issues and was making good progress, enjoying get back to walking in the local nature trails. He unexpectedly suffered a massive stroke days after his 63d birthday. Instantly everything changed and he sadly passed away a few days later. As someone who was always raising funds for others he would have been honoured to help raise funds in his memory for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.

Bobby McGinty

Another member of our group Bobby suffered major heart problems at the same time, you can donate to Bobby’s fundraiser through the team fundraising page.

On 25th August 2025 Bobby had a massive Cardiac Arrest while on holiday with family in Orlando, Florida, USA. Quick CPR intervention by family kept Bobby alive until Paramedics took over and transferred him to hospital. Following a triple bypass and two grafts along with multiple organ failure Bobby survived and was eventually flown home. With the support of family and friends Bobby is making great progress and will be doing the Edinburgh Kilt Walk.

Gordon Robb

Another member of our group Gordon Robb suffered a stroke caused by bleed on brain shortly after Frank passed away. You can donate to Gordon’s fundraiser through his page.

On 27th Sept 2025 Gordon discovered he couldn’t read when he sat down with a cup of tea to check some messages on his phone. He just thought he was tired but the following day when the problem still persisted he decided to contact medical advice. His cousin (Frank’s wife ) and their daughter insisted that he went to A&E when they arrived at his house. To everyone’s surprise a scan quickly identified that Gordon had suffered an ICH (intracerebral Hemorrage ) basically a stroke caused by a bleed on the brain. Thankfully further investigation showed that the bleed had stopped and was released from hospital a few days later. Gordon has received support from various organisations including CHSS and is making good progress.
