Story
We observe Lent in recognition of the 40 days that Jesus spent wandering in the Desert. I'm not on par with Jesus, so recognise I can't wander the Desert, but I will be wandering around the Greater Glasgow area to raise money for the Diocese of Paisley Youth Commision.
This August I'll be taking part in "The Drop", which will involve me getting taken 15 miles (as the crow flies) from the starting point near Glasgow City Centre, with no phone, electronics, map or compass, and have to find my way back to the starting point on foot, hopefully not getting lost too much along the way.
I know that might sound a bit random, so more information on the event can be found here - https://www.thedropuk.co.uk/e/the-drop-glasgow-11458
The Diocese of Paisley Youth Commission are an incredible group that supports young people in our community, providing them with opportunities for growth, faith, and community involvement. They are responsible for fostering the faith and developing friendships among the young people of the Diocese of Paisley (aged 5-35), spanning Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. It does this through a number of initiatives including regular retreats, monthly opportunities for catechesis and socialising, and annual pilgrimages.
I'm hoping to raise as much as we can to help support the events offered by the Youth Commission, as all the events are run by volunteers and are completely free for the youth in our Diocese to attend. Your donation will go directly towards enabling the group to run events and potentially do even more for our community to make a lasting impact.
Please consider donating, no matter how big or small – every contribution helps and is truly appreciated.
