My wife Sharon was diagnosed with Lobular breast cancer in 2021, prior to this we hadn’t heard of lobular cancer, yet it accounts for 1 in 6 (15%) of all breast cancers. Lobular presents differently (rarely as a lump) and also behaves differently, meaning long term outcomes are not as good. To put this right research is needed into the basic biology of lobular, once this is understood then specific targeted treatments can be explored.

Sharon has been campaigning with a fantastic team of volunteers - The Lobular Moon Shot Project, they have been lobbying the government to fund this vital research.

On 24th Jun 25, Sharon was 1 of 22 ladies who stood in silent vigil outside Downing St to represent the 22 a day, and every day, who will be diagnosed with lobular. Sadly The 22 have now become 21 with the passing of their founder Dr Susan Michaelis on 9th July, as a team we want to honour Susan’s legacy and secure funding for this vital research. Sharon is doing well, but we all live in constant fear of a recurrence, if that day comes it is only fair that all lobular patients receive a correctly tailored treatment.

We will be Walking for Lobular on Sat 6th Sept to raise funds and awareness, everyone should know about lobular. The Lobular Moon Shot Project have partnered with Manchester Breast Centre who are ready to commence the research, they just need the funding, please spare what you can to help.
