Story
This April I’m running the Marathon des Sables, raising money for FoodCycle.
I’m aiming to run 250km+ (the length of Wales) across the Sahara, carrying all my food and gear over sand dunes in 40-50C (rare steak temperature)… for a week… for fun. Take a look at MdS here and here.
It’s been months of plodding up and down cold, wet British hills and beaches, including a 150km stretch along Hadrian’s Wall with my brother in November. I’ve been testing gear (venom pump, anyone?), sampling dehydrated food (top tip: add a stock cube), and now we’re into the pre-work heat pod treadmill sessions, so fingers firmly crossed for the desert.
I volunteer for FoodCycle - a brilliant charity combatting food poverty, loneliness and food waste. Volunteers prepare and serve up delicious meals that are open to all and made with food that would otherwise go to waste.
Donations will be match-funded up to £1,500 thanks to the generous support of Wiggin and The Drapers’ Company. Funds raised will make a huge difference to people going through a tough time who could use a decent meal and some company - whether that’s young families, the elderly, the homeless, or anyone who’s struggling.
(nb. I am covering the MdS costs - so all funds raised go directly to FoodCycle)
