Story
Tactical Overview
On March 1st, I’ll be taking part in the St David's Day Cardiff 10k. While most participants will be wearing lightweight carbon-plated shoes and breathable Lycra, I’ve opted for the "Officer’s Special": uniform, boots, and a 15kg Bergan.
Why the extra weight?
I’m doing this to run alongside my wife. She’ll be the one looking much fresher, and—let’s be honest—significantly faster. In the spirit of "Certa Cito" (Swift and Sure), I’m aiming for the "Sure" part, because "Swift" went out the window the moment I packed that 15th kilogram into the pack.
I’ve spent my career in the Royal Signals ensuring the message gets through. This time, the message is simple: “Why did I agree to this?” and “Is it too late to call in a Comms failure?”
The Cause: The Royal Signals Charity
I am proud to be raising money for the Royal Signals Charity. As a serving Officer, I see firsthand the vital support they provide to the Corps family. From supporting soldiers in times of hardship to funding adventurous training and mental health initiatives, they ensure that no one in the Corps has to face a challenge alone.
Support the Signal
If you’d like to support the cause (or simply want to donate to see a Royal Signals Officer sweat his way through Bute Park while his wife glides past him), please hit the donate button.
£5: A "Roger Out" of support for the cause.
£10: Helps me maintain my "Officer-like qualities" when the blisters kick in.
£20+: Directly funds vital support for the Corps (and earns you my eternal gratitude).
Thank you for your support. If you see us on the day, I’ll be the one in camo looking like I’m moving in slow motion. Please cheer loudly—I’ll need the boost!
