The Altumate Experience 2026 – Mount Toubkal Summit Challenge
In September 2026, 16 of us from Altum Group are heading to Morocco to take on the Altumate Experience: a 48km trek through the High Atlas Mountains, finishing at the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m), the highest mountain in North Africa.
Over six days, we’ll be trekking for 6–8 hours a day across tough mountain terrain and at high altitude. I’m scared of heights, get vertigo and have never been to the top of a mountain before, so I’m not exactly relishing the summit bit.
Training has been tough too. I had ankle surgery a couple of years ago, and I’ve had some serious ankle and hip issues, as well as a few other injuries along the way. It hasn’t just been the usual aches and pains — it has made training properly difficult at times. But I’ve kept at it and am determined to get there. Nervous, definitely — but knowing the help we can give through The Listening Place has really spurred me on.
Why I Am Raising Funds for The Listening Place
In the UK, we lose someone to suicide every 75 minutes. It is the leading cause of death in men under 50 and in adults under 35, yet effective support can be hard to find.
The Listening Place provides free, face-to-face, ongoing support to people who feel suicidal. I’ve had people close to me struggle, and I’ve seen how much it can matter to have somewhere safe to turn and somebody who will listen. The work The Listening Place does is incredible and genuinely saves lives.
By supporting this challenge, you’re helping fund life-saving support for people at their most vulnerable.
Thank you so much for your support — every donation really does make a difference. 💙
