Ed's fundraiser for The Art of War Foundation

Steph Askew is raising money for The Art of War Foundation

AJ Bell Great North 5k run · 5 September 2025

The Foundation uses Art as a creative outlet to foster pride, build community, and spark open conversations about mental health. Through original artwork and merchandise we raise vital funds to support military charities working tirelessly to address issues like PTSD, depression, and suicide.

Story

The Art of War Foundation is a newly formed charity, who aim to use art to raise money to provide mental health support to both current and former armed force personnel.

On the 5th September, Ed will be running the AJ Bell Great North 5K.

In Ed's words:

In the past, I have taken on a number of half and full marathons (though that was some time ago), and these days I still enjoy walking and spending time outdoors.

Whilst I may not be ‘young’ chronologically, I believe it is important in terms of both your physical and mental health to take exercise in whatever way works for you.

For me, I am doing the 5K run as a means of motivating myself both through the training in the lead-up and, of course, in the run itself.

It is a privilege to do the run for the charity ‘The Art of War’, a charity whose values and goals I wholeheartedly support. Art allows for expression, healing, and fulfilment, and I am proud to run in its name to support the mental health of our armed forces.

Thank you for supporting the charity.

All money raised will go directly to support the Art of War Foundation - https://www.theartofwarfoundation.com/
