Story
The Challenge
Race One: GB Ultras first 100mile race of the year. 300 people tackle the point to point challenge over 100miles on 5th April. All runners have to qualify through completion of at least a 50 mile recorded race. This is a none stop race, starting at 6am and runs through the night and day.
Race Two: A World Series Race by UTMB across Snowdonia. We will summit 8 peaks (including Snowdon), climbing over 6400m in total and running 103 kilometres through the mountains. The race starts at 4.35am on 17th May.
Race Three: The one that means the most and is the most connected to our supported charity. Running across Ireland from the coast of Galway to the coast of Dublin. None stop, without aid stations or any support and self-navigated for just over 130 miles. We start the run on Eds birthday 11th June. What a way to spend your birthday!
We (Ed Swain & Ian Macbeth) plan start each race together and plan to celebrate on each finish line together in the biggest triple physical challenge of our lives and all with just a few week between each one.
Story of Why
We’re running to raise awareness and funds for the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA), an incredible charity that supports patients and families affected by Lung Fibrosis. This cause is personal - with someone close to Ed battling with this condition, and we want to help ILFA continue their vital work. It is a small charity so every pound means so much in helping them with the great work they do daily.
Suffering from lung fibrosis means struggling with something as simple as breathing, while we have the privilege of running for miles. Every step we take is a step towards better support, increased awareness, and more advocacy for those affected.
How You Can Help?
Every donation, big or small, goes directly to ILFA to help them continue their essential work. We thank you in advance if you would like to support us.
Even if you can’t donate, spreading the word helps! Share this page, tell a friend, or take a moment to learn more about lung fibrosis and ILFA’s efforts.
Follow Our Journey
We’ll be sharing our training, updates from each race and video message after each challenge is completed.
Let’s make every mile count. Let’s run for those who can’t.
Thank you for your support!
