Pennine Barrier Ultra 50 · 4 May 2024

Bradford Hospitals' Charity supports Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to provide funding for equipment, training and research. We also support out staff to achieve this. Our vision is to provide the very best care and treatment for the people of Bradford.

Story

In June 2023, my daughter arrived ten weeks early. Amelie was born into the care of the Bradford Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For five and a half weeks, she received round-the-clock care from the NICU and High Dependency Unit teams. Even after her discharge, we continued to receive support from the Neonatal Outreach team. The care and compassion shown by these wonderful people was beyond comprehension.

I can't express my gratitude enough, but I can try to give back in some way. That's why I'm participating in the Pennine Barrier Ultra 50 on 4 May 2024. It's a 50 mile ultra marathon that will take me from Malham Cove up the Pennine Way to Pen-y-ghent, over the Yorkshire Three Peaks, and back down the Pennine Way to Malham - with an elevation of 2,593 metres.

I'm raising funds for Bradford Hospitals Charity because they support families like mine during their most challenging times. Did you know that, according to the British Medical Journal, each day a child spends in NICU costs £1,445 and each day in High Dependency Unit is £925? By supporting this cause, you can help other families receive the same level of care that Amelie did.

Please join me in supporting Bradford Hospitals Charity by donating whatever you can towards my target amount of £2,593. Your contribution will make a difference in someone's life.
