On Saturday 25th July 26 myself, Edd, Shannon, Alec, Eva, Jamie, Nicola, Kendal, Sean, Ross, John, Chris, Erin, Shannon, Nicki, Leighanne, Davie and Sam will be doing a skydive 🪂 in support of Scottish Huntington’s Association to raise funds and awareness of this devastating illness.

Huntington’s disease is caused by an inherited faulty gene that damages the brain. Anyone with a parent who has HD has a 50% risk of inheriting the condition from them. It is a progressive fatal disease that causes the person to lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink, and care for themselves. It can also cause involuntary movements, memory and mental health problems. At the moment there is no cure.

Most of you know why I’m raising for this charity, for those who don’t know. Two of my children have been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease and to see how quickly the illness has progressed is heartbreaking.

Nicolle (34) has almost lost her speech, mobility, cognitive ability and needs help with all activities of daily living and care.Darren (30) is showing early symptoms which has affected his mental health and wellbeing. There are so many other families out there in the same situation as us and the support from Scottish Huntington’s association is a massive help.

Scottish Huntington’s Association provides each family a HD specialist, essential care, support and so much more. Donations also help towards research and funding.
