I’m starting an ambitious and deeply personal challenge: two 5000+ summits in two weeks. I'll be attempting to climb the highest mountain on the European continent. My journey begins this August, where I’ll attempt two major peaks in the Caucasus Mountains:
1. Mount Kazbek – 5,047m. Demands solid mountaineering skills and offers great acclimatisation, making it an excellent preparation for bigger peaks like Elbrus.
2. Mount Elbrus – 5,642m. (the highest in the European continent). High altitude, unpredictable weather, and glaciated terrain make it a serious and demanding ascent. Climbers face extreme cold, strong winds, and the risk of altitude sickness, especially during summit day, which can involve a 12–14 hour push in thin air. Proper acclimatisation, fitness, and preparation are essential for a safe and successful climb.
