Story
My name is Eden Rosenthal. I'm 11 years old and live in London.
With my Batmitzvah less a year away, I want to raise money for a charity that is close to my heart - The Cancer Treatment & Research Trust. I'm going to walk around the Capital Ring, and would love your help, as well as your company if you fancy joining me.
This is a charity that matters to me. My parents first came across The Cancer Treatment & Research Trust when my mum was pregnant with me. She was very sick from the beginning of the pregnancy, with her doctors realising she was going though a partial molar pregnancy. (I've been a little troublemaker since I was in the womb!).
Partial molar pregnancies are very very rare. Not only do they risk the life of the mother, but the foetus only has a 2% chance of being born.
With the advice of the CTRT, and the research of Professor Michael Seckl, my mum was somehow able to overcome the odds, with me born on 24th March 2014. Miraculously, both me and my mum were well...and we still are today!
When I was one year old, my mum and dad walked all the way around the Capital Ring, in 3 days! They walked a marathon each day, raising a lot of money and awareness. They even made the news.
Ahead of my Batmitzvah, I want to do the same thing. Those of you who know me will know I am not a massive fan of long walks, so this is a big thing for me! Seriously though, I think it's special I can do something that is so personal to me and my life.
I will be doing as many walks of the Capital Ring as I can this summer. The first will be from Hendon to Highgate, on the 22nd of June. I'd love you to join me if you have the time and energy. My mum and dad will provide all the snacks so there's no excuses! It'd be amazing to have as many friends and supporters walking the 9km with us as are able. Details to follow.
Thank you for all you can give.
Love,
Eden
