Story
Edgar Tawfiq Zarifeh was born in Yaffa, Palestine in 1927, where he lived with his family until 1948, when he among 700,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes. Edgar settled in Beirut, where he met his beloved Suad Hissen, and they both built a wonderful family of their own: Nadine, Omar Hani and Alexandra.
Eventually, following multiple attacks on Lebanon, Edgar and his family would depart from Beirut for good.
Finally setting down roots in Canada, he enjoyed regular outings with members of the community he helped build, attending Liturgy at church on Sundays, playing cards with family friends and devoting his time to his wife, children and his adored grandchildren.
While Edgar left Palestine at 21, Palestine never left him. A strong advocate for Palestinian liberation, Edgar was a personal supporter of Medical Aid for Palestinians and it only seems right to continue this legacy.
Edgar will always be remembered as the resilient, passionate, intelligent, loving gentleman and beacon of light he was and will be sorely missed by the many, many people touched by his grace and who will always love him. His absence will be deeply felt by his children, their spouses (Junaid Peracha, Randa Jahshan Zarifeh, Fadi HajjarZ) and his precious grandchildren Omar, Noor & Maia Peracha, Edgar & Helena Zarifeh, Victor & Julia Hajjar.
Allah Yerhamo and may his memory be eternal.
