Please support me on my 100 Mile Walk for Words Matter charity!

I’m lacing up my walking shoes and teaming up with my wife Karen and our loyal lurcher Kennedy to trek 100 miles in September across Scotland to raise £12,000 for Words Matter charity. Sorry for the pun...this isn’t just a walk in the park - it’s a mission to make a meaningful difference, and I’d be grateful for your support!

Words Matter is the only organisation in the world dedicated to ending the verbal abuse of children by adults. Shockingly, it affects 2 in 5 children—41%. The impact of harsh words by adults goes beyond hurt feelings and can be lifelong; it can lead to lasting issues like low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance abuse, self-harm, and even suicide.

This cause is personal to me, having endured verbal abuse myself in my childhood. I know the lasting invisible scars that words can leave, and I am determined to break the cycle for future generations.

Where your donation goes

Your generous contribution will help fund the rollout of Words Matter’s groundbreaking Parent/Carer Training programme. This initiative will equip parents and carers with the essential tools to understand the profound impact of verbal abuse and advise them on how best to communicate with children that helps them flourish.

We can all remember words that were spoken to us by adults when we were young – words matter. They stick. They last a lifetime. They shape who we are and who we become.
