On Sunday 13th September, I will be taking on the Great North Run in aid of Dementia UK, a charity very close to my family's heart.

Sadly, my mum Joanna was diagnosed aged 53 with an early onset, rare dementia (frontotemporal dementia or FTD) in 2021 and was then subsequently diagnosed with motor neurone disease in the summer of 2025. Joanna’s formal diagnosis is now FTD MND and her condition continues to deteriorate by the day but she is surrounded by love and care. Dementia UK are a specialist dementia nurse charity who provide life-changing support for families affected by all forms of dementia. Having seen my dad, brother and sister all raise impressive amounts for similar causes, I feel as though it is now my turn!
