Edward's fundraiser for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation

Edward Curtis-Thomas is raising money for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation

Running across Hadrian's wall · 30 March 2026

Following the horrific murder of Sophie Lancaster, her family wanted to ensure a lasting legacy to their beautiful, bright creative daughter and so The Sophie Lancaster Foundation was established and it became a registered charity in 2009. We do this through various means including education.

Story

Three Marathons. One Mission.

This Easter 2026, my friend Connor and I will be taking on Hadrian’s Wall—a 127 km (79 mile) journey, which is the equivalent of three marathons back-to-back—in one continuous push.

We’ll be running, walking, hiking, hobbling, and probably even crawling our way across the country. We will start before sunrise on day one and (with luck!) finish before sunset on day two. Our goal is to push our physical limits to raise awareness and vital funds for a cause that means the world to me.

My Story: Celebrating the Love in Our Alternative Nation

I have been a part of the alternative community for most of my life, and I want to try and give something back to the community that has given me so much!

There is a lot more love in this community than most people ever realize. Just because we dress a little differently, it doesn’t mean we are not every bit as unique and amazing as everyone else in this crazy world we live in.

I am raising money for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation because their mission is personal to me. Following the tragic loss of Sophie, the foundation has worked tirelessly to "Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere" (S.O.P.H.I.E).

By donating to my page, you are helping the foundation:

Educate: Delivering workshops in schools to teach young people about respect and subcultures.

Advocate: Working with police forces to ensure subculture-led hate crimes are taken seriously.

Support: Providing a voice for those who feel marginalized for their identity.

The alternative nation has always been about acceptance and being yourself. Please help me support the work that keeps our community safe.

Why Hadrian’s Wall?

There’s something poetic about following an ancient frontier: a line that once divided people, now repurposed as a path for connection and endurance. It’s the perfect distance—long enough to test every fibre of willpower, yet achievable with planning and grit.

Connor and I live in different areas, so most of our training will be “in spirit,” but I somehow managed to find someone as mad as me to take this on. We’ll keep each other accountable and probably share plenty of moaning along the way.

It’s a big ask to go from zero fitness to peak condition in a short time, but I’m determined (and definitely stubborn) enough to make it happen.
