Ed's Aconcagua Charity Climb

Edward Dijmarescu is raising money for Fara Foundation

Team: Team 6961 - Edward's Aconcagua Charity Climb

Hiking & Climbing · 13 February 2027

FARA has been working with orphaned and abandoned children in Romania since 1991. We transform the lives of some of the poorest and most vulnerable children and young people by providing care, therapy, education and life-skills training.

Story

Hi everyone,

After a long break from my charity expeditions, “the mountains are calling and I must go” (John Muir). I’ve realised that my feet are getting itchy again and my heart is pulling me back toward a new challenge. After I reached the summits of Elbrus and Kilimanjaro, next year I will be heading for the roof of the Western Hemisphere and one of the seven summits: Mount Aconcagua.

Standing at a staggering height of 6,961m (22,838 ft), this will be my most extreme adventure yet. But as I prepare for the thin air and freezing temperatures, I’m reminded of why I’m doing this.

I am proud to be supporting the FARA Foundation UK, an incredible charity dedicated to the orphaned and abandoned children of Romania. His Majesty King Charles III is the Royal Patron of this amazing charity.

While I will be facing a temporary struggle on that mountain, thousands of children face the permanent struggle of being alone in this world. I cannot imagine the fear of growing up without a family or a safe place to call home—can you?

My goal is to turn every meter I climb into a better future for them. With that in mind my aim is to fundraise 50p for every meter that I climb. I hope that if I get enough people and corporate sponsors to open their big hearts and wallets this could be achievable :-)

Your donations

I want to be very clear: This is a self-funded expedition. I am covering every penny of my own travel, equipment, and climbing costs. This means that 100% of the money raised goes directly to FARA UK.

Join my quest

Once again, I’m reaching out to my friends, family, colleagues and business partners to join me in this extraordinary challenge. By sponsoring my climb, you are choosing to support a child who has nobody else.

Corporate sponsorship

If your business is interested in sponsorship opportunities, please go to Team 6961 page for more info. I have sponsorship tiers that could offer great CSR charity partnerships.

Stay tuned for further updates on training, equipment prep, etc.
