As you will all be aware, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumour last year. Thankfully, the tumour was removed successfully and, even more thankfully, turned out to be benign.

I am so thankful to all of the wonderful staff at the Atkinson Morley wing of St George's hospital in Tooting - from the porters to the surgeons. They (together with my amazing family and friends) made it a great deal easier for me to get through such a traumatic process than it might otherwise have been.

With that in mind, Rob and I have decided to undertake a marathon length walk along the Thames path from Teddington to Westminster Bridge and then from there to St George's hospital.

We will be walking with our very good friend Simon Brownhill who was also treated at Atkinson Morley when he suffered a stroke some 2 years ago. He will be walking to raise money for the Stroke Association. We are hoping that others will join us for at least part of our journey.

Please give as much as you can towards this most worthwhile cause or simply join us on the day to provide us with (what will undoubtedly be much needed and much appreciated) support.

Thank you
