Story
I’m climbing Mount Snowdon in September in support for Alexandra House of Joy to help build a specialist centre in Bicester to provide vital care, respite and end of life care for severely disabled young adults, while also supporting their families and carers.
There is a significant lack of provision for young adults with very profound disabilities. At the moment, the only options are general adult day centres which cater for all ages up to the very elderly.
These young adults have already suffered throughout their childhoods just to survive into adulthood. They deserve a space designed for their peer group and to be given the chance to enjoy activities, where both their health and social needs can be properly met. These young adults deserve to be given the chance to live their best life, time is so precious and we need to make every day count!
