Story
My nephew Walter is a happy, kind and playful little boy. He was born in December 2023, along with his twin sister Beatrice, who both became younger siblings to their very excited big brother George.
On November 2025 Walter was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Creatine Transporter Deficiency (CTD). This is an extremely rare condition that causes global delays in development. However, it is believed to impact a far greater number of people - and due to a lack of testing, it is very rarely diagnosed. Luckily they were able to diagnose Walt early on.
Currently, there is no cure - however, research into the condition by organisations such as The Associate for Creatine Deficiencies (ACD), is producing positive and promising results.
To raise money for ACD, my wife and I have made the crazy decision to run Buenos Aires Marathon this September. Although somewhat active, this will be a serious challenge for the both of us, given we've never run that far before!
By donating to Associate for Creatine Deficiencies (ACD), you will help ACD to continue their great work promoting and funding medical research for treatments and cures for Cerebral Creatine Deficiency Syndromes (CCDS), such as CTD; as well as providing patient, family and public education and advocating for early screening of children.
If you can, please donate to ACD so that they can support many more families like ours and can continue their research into treatments (we will be donating to their very aptly named 'race for a cure' campaign). Anything to encourage us around the course, would be much appreciated!
