Story
When you're diagnosed with MND there's a 50/50 chance you will die within just 2 years.
Investment in research is the best way to change that. Stand Against MND's Fifty50 campaign will help make that difference.
12 months. 50 fundraisers. A £500 target each. A £25,000 impact.
I'm Edward Woolford I'm 42 years old and I'm overweight and unfit. My large bowel and I don't get on with each other and I've been feeling sorry for myself for the last 8 years or so.
So why have I entered a 24 hour running challenge?
One reason - the incredible Sam Perkins and joining him in the fight against this awful disease.
my personal story is this, i got the running bug back in 2010 when i ran the London Marathon with my brother. An incredible experience as anyone who has been involved will know. I got running.... and running got me. We were the best of friends I ran 5 more marathons over the next few years as well as other events and got faster* and better each time, (*by my low standards!).
2016 - something changed, I didn't know what it was but training was hard. I'd booked the Paris marathon in spring which meant training over the winter. I couldn't run well. I always needed to stop I had no energy and barely got over half distance in training. I went off to Paris and walked much of the course, I'd had to visit the portaloos at every mile and it was a relief for the event to be over.
Long story short- I got diagnosed with IBD via a trip to A&E with my colon on the verge of exploding.
I've used that as an excuse since to be lazy. Well not anymore, I'm Standing Against MND because I can still run and I got this one for Sam and anyone else touched by this Shitty disease.
