Story
On 7th October 2023, we lost our son and brother Edward, who, tragically took his own life as a result of complex mental health issues.
While managing the immense grief of this shock, it is paramount that his memory lives on through pure, kind, positive actions - just as was his very nature. We are also conscious that as well as our own sense of loss, that the world has lost a talented and caring teacher, and it would be a great comfort to the family to see more young people who shared Ed's passion for teaching be able to embark on their PCGEs with some additional financial support.
The money from this fundraiser will go into a fund that will be managed by the University of Durham, where Ed was studying for a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages. Ed was a multi-linguist and spent time teaching in Spain, Germany and the UK. He was also someone who reached out to and connected with a wide range of people, so the current plan is for the bursary prize to encourage and support cultural diversity among PGCE students.
If you would like to get involved, please do feel free to email Ed's family using the address donations@edwardrichardson.org to coordinate appropriately.
If you would like to give more than £10,000 then please do not put it through JustGiving as the University will have to carry out compliance checks.
Thank you
