Edwin Joel Lodder is raising money for The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Charity

Bike Ride · 1 May 2026

World-leading specialists need world-leading support. RNOH Charity strengthens and supports the people, research and infrastructure that make RNOH one of the world's best orthopaedic hospitals.

Story

In May 2022, my mum Vicky suffered a serious spinal infection that caused an incomplete spinal cord injury. After surgery, she was treated at the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), where she spent months in intensive rehabilitation.

She went from being an active primary school teacher to having to relearn basic everyday tasks. Thanks to the incredible care, expertise and encouragement of the RNOH team, Mum has made amazing progress. When she left hospital she relied on a power wheelchair; today she can walk short distances using crutches and lives a far more independent and confident life.

I’m Edwin , her son, and on 1st May I’ll be cycling around 2,300km from Basingstoke to Spain to raise money for RNOH Charity, to say thank you for everything they’ve done for Mum and our family.

Follow me and the Charity on Instagram to see how my training goes and watch my ride on the 1st of May. @edwin_joel_lodder & @the.rnoh.charity

Any donation will help RNOH Charity continue supporting patients through life-changing injuries. Thank you so much for your support 💙
