Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This year 4 members of EFJ staff are taking part in the Great North 10k Run in Newcastle on the 2nd of July.

We have Murray Dunsire (Managing Director), Angela Dunsire (Finance Director), Kayleigh Dean (Office Manager) and Matthew Dunsire (our Marketing Consultant).

Our managing director and Tail Runner Murray was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes several years ago and, whilst it has not affected Murray too much, he has seen the affect that Diabetes can have.

Type 2 diabetes is a serious condition where the insulin your pancreas makes can’t work properly, or your pancreas can’t make enough insulin. This means your blood glucose (sugar) levels keep rising.

Around 90% of people with diabetes in the UK have type 2. It is serious condition and can be lifelong.

Having type 2 diabetes without treatment means that high sugar levels in your blood can seriously damage parts of your body, including your eyes, heart and feet. These are called the complications of diabetes. But with the right treatment and care, you can live well with type 2 diabetes and reduce your risk of developing them.

In taking part in this years 10k Run we are hoping to raise funds for Diabetes UK so they can carry out vital research and work in to the prevention of diabetes.
