EGGER's story
EGGER’s Charity Committee in Hexham has partnered with Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care, the chosen charity to benefit from EGGER’s support for two years.
The charity specialises in transporting cancer patients to and from hospital for their Chemotherapy and / or Radiotherapy treatment, free of charge.
It currently has 45 ambulances supporting cancer sufferers, living in the Carlisle to the Scottish Borders, down to Peterlee region, and has 250 volunteers who give up their own time to drive patients to and from appointments.
The service involves collecting and transporting patients in a safe and comfortable environment from their home to hospital where they will have their treatment and home again.
The charity completes thousands of cancer patient journeys each year with a passionate team of volunteers and a large fleet of ambulances.
Hexham’s Charity Committee hopes to raise enough money in the two-year partnership to buy the first electric ambulance for the charity, setting an ambitious fundraising target of £45,000. This will make a real physical difference to the service, and the lives of cancer sufferers.
Through EGGER organised fundraising events and employee participation in events, the Committee hopes to reach its target by the end of 2026.
All donations towards the target are gratefully received.
