Story

EGGER's story

EGGER’s Charity Committee in Hexham has partnered with Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care, a North East charity who provides free transport services to cancer patients travelling to and from hospital for treatment. The collaboration marks a significant commitment from the Hexham site, with employees already stepping forward to play an active role in supporting the cause.

At the heart of the partnership is an ambitious goal to raise £45,000 - the amount required to purchase the charity’s first electric ambulance. This milestone not only supports the charity’s much needed transport services but also contributes to a more sustainable fleet, helping reduce emissions while improving patient comfort and reliability.

On the 23rd May, eight EGGER employees will take on the 24 hour Three Peaks Challenge. Known as one of the UK’s most demanding endurance events, the challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon within a single 24 hour window. The team’s participation is intended to raise both awareness and funds, demonstrating the commitment and determination behind the partnership.

The Hexham Charity Committee will continue to lead fundraising activities throughout the partnership, organising events and encouraging involvement from employees across the site. From sponsored challenges to workplace initiatives, it is hoped these combined efforts will help reach the £45,000 target by the end of 2026.

Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care supports thousands of patients every year, offering safe, reliable, and compassionate transport during what can be an emotionally and physically demanding period of treatment. The addition of an electric ambulance would represent a significant expansion of the charity’s capabilities and help strengthen its long term sustainability.

The two year collaboration reflects EGGER’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and local charitable work. For the Hexham Charity Committee, this partnership is not only an opportunity to raise funds but also a chance to contribute meaningfully to a service that directly supports people across the region.

All donations towards the target are gratefully received.
