eir Challenge 2024 · 11 October 2024

Special Olympics is a sport organisation for people with an intellectual disability, currently supporting nearly 8,000 athletes across Ireland, who are training for much more than the physical benefits that come from sport, but the emotional and social development that come from being part of S.O.I.

Story

The annual eir Challenge will once again be raising money for the Special Olympics Young Athletes programme. Over the last 11 years funds raised by eir employees through the eir Challenge has meant that SOI have been able to open 38 Young Athletes clubs across Ireland, with two new Young Athletes clubs in 2023. These clubs support the delivery of play and sport activities to 586 Young Athletes with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 4 and 12 years old, with numbers increasing steadily each year as the programme grows.
