eir Challenge 2026 for Special Olympics Ireland · 2 October 2026

Special Olympics is a sports organisation for individuals with intellectual disabilities, currently supporting nearly 7,000 athletes across Ireland. These athletes train not only for the physical benefits of sport, but also for the invaluable emotional and social development.

Story

We're delighted to welcome back the eir Challenge for its 13th year. A highlight of our calendar, it unites colleagues across the country in support of Special Olympics Ireland and builds on a partnership that spans more than 40 years — the longest-running corporate charity partnership in Ireland.

This year, eir employees are running, walking, and cycling in support of the Young Athletes Programme, which helps children aged 4-12 with intellectual disabilities build vital skills through play and sport. Since its inception, the Young Athletes Programme has engaged over 1,000 children, with numbers increasing steadily each year as the programme grows.

This year's eir challenge will take place on Friday 2nd October, preceded by a six-week training and fundraising period. Thank you for supporting this very worthy cause.
